What made you want to become an Eating Psychology Coach?
After years of cultivating my passion for food as medicine and health coaching, I became acutely aware that while what one consumed, and one’s connection to food, was definitely a part of health and well being, how one ate, and the landscape of everything that influenced nourishment on all levels, was even more important to transformation.
What do you love about being an Eating Psychology Coach?
Being an Eating Psychology Coach allows me to dive deeper with a client, it allows me to engage them in who they are, what their purpose is, ultimately it allows me to guide them to get to the soul of issues and widen the healing and change process for them.
What does your practice look like?
I tend to gravitate to women in their mid to later life years, though I have successfully worked with men and young people as well. I believe my truth and my story has influenced who shows up for me as a client, as inevitably, I end up learning as much as they do in our work together. I’ve wanted to dig in on my backstory and my clients are in that space as well. I live in a rural area of Montana most of the year and other than the clients that have come to spend time one on one with me here, I conduct my work via phone and Skype. The environment here is a perfect conduit for relaxing and seeing clearly and has been instrumental in the therapeutic process. I work out retreat style options; otherwise I tailor programs to the individual and their needs. I also work out of Brooklyn, New York from December through February.
How did your education at the Institute prepare you to work successfully with clients?
The greatest gift I got from the Institute was “letting go”, letting go of evaluation of the work from my notions of authority, others, myself and letting go of trying to fix. No one knows your story or your body better than you. My role as a coach is to partner with you, so you work through your blind spots and trust your intuition and knowingness, both of which create true transformation.
What was your favorite aspect of the Training?
I loved the way the course was set up, all the audios, the handouts, forums, and staff support. I felt the exchange was in abundance from the Institute to me as a student. I will however, without any reservation, say that what impressed and influenced me the most was Marc’s enthusiasm, passion, and presence. I’ve done many courses, live and online and he is consistently inspirational – being there enough to do that is no small feat.
How has being an Eating Psychology Coach impacted your professional life/financial well-being?
I’ve increased my clients and have certainly felt more fulfilled professionally. The bottom line is I am more there as a Coach. I’ve recognized that I am there to guide my clients to do meaningful work on themselves, not to do it for them, on any level. The work has become more exciting and more effective.
How has being an Eating Psychology Coach impacted you personally?
I have taken much of what I have learned from the Eating Psychology training and applied it to myself to continue to learn and grow as an individual. The tools aligned with me and my purpose, to take the concept of integration to new levels and continually treat my health and personal growth as a constant journey, one that is FUN, and one that serves not only me but others, as well as the bigger picture that we are all part of.
What do you see for yourself in your future as an Eating Psychology Coach – where is your work evolving towards?
The future holds more one-on-one work with taking a percentage of my fees to funnel towards community workshops and coaching for those who are not necessarily part of the health and wellness “choir” so to speak. Chronic disease and body image issues are rampant, and I have so many tools that I can use to reach a broader audience from many angles. Expanding that reach is very important to me, as I feel making an impact on each individual is what will lead to eventual fundamental changes in industry and forces that seem insurmountable.
Why Would You Recommend the Training to Others?
Becoming inspired and embracing a relaxed, positive approach to personal and professional growth is the name of the game. This training is deeply effective on both counts and will make you YOU and thus make you an awesome coach.
